    Description: The site has a range of biographies written for younger students. The biographies are about historical figures that students may learn about in their Social Studies curriculum.

    Description: This site explains what a biography is and contains videos for students in upper elementary school through high school. This is a good site for students who struggle to read, but still need to complete research on a historical person.

    Description: This is a series of biography books. There are a wide variety of people contained in all of the books. This site shows the different people that are included in the series. Each title has a short synopsis about the person and the information that a reader will learn from reading the book. Many of these books are located in the school library.

    Description: This is a list of autobiographies written for elementary-aged children. The call number for each book is listed as well. These books are also included in our school library.

  7. Title: Carol Hurst’s Literacy in the Classroom: Biographies and Memoirs


    Description: Ms. Hurst describes the purpose of teaching biographies. She gives several ideas of how to incorporate the teaching of biographies in a classroom. Her ideas take teachers “outside the box.”

    Description: This site is a great site for teachers who are struggling to find appropriate memoirs for elementary students. The site explains the meaning of a memoir and lists several memoirs that can be used. There is an example of an anchor chart that can be used to teach the concept. There are also mini-lessons that can be taught with each text.
